Get Involved! Be a NAMIGlendale Volunteer
We will be moving to a new webhosting service by the middle of 2015; we are actively seeking volunteers with an eye for graphic layout to help design the look of our new website; we also need content editors who could research and organize links to resources that would be of use to our site visitors. We also need copy editors to write informational copy about our links, events, resources, programs, classes, etcetera. These are volunteer positions only. Experience is nice, but energy and enthusiasm and ability to collaborate with others is a must. To volunteer for website work only, please email email@example.com
Do you l-o-v-e FaceBook? We need a few good people to help us scour the net for interesting and useful information to post to our FaceBook page. Go to NAMIGlendale on Facebook; like and follow our page; and, begin posting things on our timeline.
If you would like to volunteer, or help us in any way, contact (323) 478-1656 and leave a message. A NAMI Glendale volunteer will be in touch as soon as possible.

NAMI Glendale primary source of operating income is from the annual fundraising NAMI WALKS in October. The funds we raise ensure that we can continue to provide important services, programs, information, and resources FREE OF CHARGE to our community. Please consider becoming a WALK COMMITTEE volunteer. You will meet a dynamic group of dedicated NAMI Glendale volunteers, learn how to support a fundraising campaign, and contribute to all the good things NAMI provides to families like yours.
NAMI Glendale needs help to fill in the blanks on our Communications Committee with writers, organizers, editors, distributors, and so forth.
We need your creative help to generate reports, press releases, Public Service Announcements for Radio and TV, web content for this site and our Facebook page, fund raising appeals, advocacy alerts and calls to action, news features, letters to the editor, op-ed pieces, and to generate new ideas for outreach. The most important characteristic we need in this Committee’s toolkit is your commitment to making a difference for individuals and families living with mental illness.
RESOURCES: If you have additional information on services available free of charge or at low cost that may help our families, or wish to help us UPDATE resources, contact our resource experts via our Webmaster.
Calendar Updates: We need help to update our community calendar
Promotional Materials and Flyers: We need help to create and distribute flyers promoting our classes, support groups, and speaker programs.
MARKETING PR TEAM: help us promote OUR LIVED EXPERIENCE, NAMI Glendale’s Quarterly Journal. Not only is the journal potentially an important fundraiser for NAMI Glendale’s free education and resources, the wisdom and useful information in OUR LIVED EXPERIENCE can help many, many people.
DATA ENTRY: Enter names and other contact information to NAMI-Glendale contact database. This is an ongoing project that requires computer and typing skills, some database management skills will also be helpful, and attention to detail will be essential. Many times a month, at NAMI Glendale speaker meetings, outreach events, support groups, and classes, sign in sheets with contact information of people who have asked to be added to our mailing list are collected and need to be entered. This helps NAMI Glendale provide important information and services to the community. If you would like to put your computer skills to work to serve NAMIGlendale, contact us today!
EVENTS – OUTREACH
Attend outreach events to provide information and answer questions on NAMI Glendale at community fairs, health fairs, and other special events. NAMI Glendale outreach efforts are on-going and there are opportunities at least once a month, sometimes more often, to help us get the word out to the community about NAMI Glendale’s valuable programs and services.
NAMI Glendale needs additional team members to WORK FROM HOME to manage and respond to phone messages. All you need to succeed is a friendly phone manner and a desire to help. Phone monitors provide crucial information and answer questions by monitoring NAMI-Glendale’s answering machine and routing calls to appropriate board and committee members and other community resources.
Help us prepare membership packets, outreach mailings, and more.
