Advocacy Alert: LA County Mental Health Commission, Special Town Hall Meeting

This will be a special Town Hall Meeting of the Mental Health Commission (MHC) co-sponsored by the DMH Service Area 2 Advisory Commission (SAAC2). This meeting will include the MHC’s regular monthly meeting that normally takes place on this date in downtown Los Angeles. This one time location change is part of an effort by the MHC and SAAC2 to ensure that all have greater access and have their voices count despite the large size of the county. This meeting is open to the public and all are encouraged to attend. Individuals will have opportunities to address the commission. The goals of the meeting include: empowering community engagement and advocacy, understanding the scope of available resources from service providers in the community, and identifying and addressing unmet need in the Santa Clarita Valley.
The County of Los Angeles Mental Health Commission meets on the fourth Thursday of the month from 11-1:30 except in November and December when they meet on the third Thursday. Meetings are held at the County Hall of Administration, room 739. These meeting are open to the public which is encouraged to attend.
The County of Los Angeles Mental Health Commission advises the County Board of Supervisors and Department of Mental Health Director on issues impacting the County mental health system. The Commision is also charged with to review and approve the procedures used to ensure community and professional involvement at all stages of the planning process.
